The shark is a preditory cartilaginous FISH,
found in all seas but most abundant in warm
waters. The shark family includes the worlds
largest and fiercest fish. Many sharks have a
wedged shaped head, a long body and a
triangular back fin that often sticks out of
the water. Their skeletons are made of
rubbery gristle, not bone. They vary greatly
in size ranging from 60cm to the longest
being 15m, as long as two buses put together.
The largest shark is the whale shark.
The whale shark and the basking shark are
harmless to people and other animals because
they live on plankton. Many other sharks are
cruel hunters with rows of razor sharp teeth.
Several will attack humans, the greediest
monster, the great white shark, swallows its
prey complete. The remains of big animals
such as large horses, seals and other sharks
have been found in its stomach. Other
dangerous sharks are the blue shark, the
tiger shark and the leopard shark which has
leopard like spots. The smell of blood in
water can cause sharks to attack anything
nearby , even other sharks.
Tanned sharkskin is a durable LEATHER.
